Teatro Variedades

Salas de Lisboa

Opened in 1926, according to a project by Urbano de Castro, the venue remained in regular operation until the 1960s. Designed for musical theatre, some of Parque Mayer’s greatest hits were presented here, with great casts including Beatriz Costa, Mirita Casimiro and Vasco Santana. It suffered a fire in 1966, after which it was restored and was also the stage, in the 1990s, for the programme “Grande Noite” by Filipe La Féria.

After three decades of closure, the Theatre underwent extensive renovation work that provided it with new functional structures suited to the needs of modern entertainment venues.
